Salty strudel

salty strudel

This is one of those delicious things that can be taken as a snack, picnic in the park or if you do not want to take it out of the house you can eat it for lunch or dinner at home.  you can also cut it into strips so it can be served as an appetizer.in fact,  for those who love salty food in the morning,  i recommend it even for breakfast! It ‘easy to make and has low cost ingredients …. Well, have I’ve convinced you?

Ingredients for 4 strudel:
1 potato
1 egg
150 grams of feta cheese
100 grams of mixed mushrooms
1 clove garlic
A pinch of nutmeg
½ teaspoon ground coriander
½ teaspoon caraway Kummel caraway
4 sheets of filo pastry
E.V.O.oil ( or melted butter)

How it works:
In a frying pan cook with olive oi thel garlic and mushrooms. When the mushrooms are cooked, take out the garlic and set aside the mushrooms. Cook the potato in salted water and set aside to cool and ready to mash. In a bowl combine the mashed potato with the feta cheese, beaten egg, mushrooms and spices. Stir the mixture and leave aside. Using a brush, spread olive oil (or melted butter) on the filo pastry one sheet at a time . Pour on the top of the first sheet  ¼ of the mixture, leaving empty three centimeters from each side. Roll up a couple of times and close  the empty part of the filo pastry in  to the inside of the Strudel , brush with olive oil and continue to roll until the end of the sheet. One is done! Repeat for the other three. Bake it in the oven using baking paper on the pan at 180/190 degrees for 15 minutes.
