This weekend we had a really fantastic one and a half days. Weather was wonderful and I began to plant the first things in the vegetable garden. The program was also to have a barbecue in the garden and cook the lamb that my mother had given to me. The lamb came from her favorite butcher in Rome, so I was looking forward to the barbecue . But then came the wind , clouds and rain ….all that was missing was the snow! My first thoughts went to the plants. …,Mamma mia hopefully they will resist. The second thoughts went to the lamb, considering the impossibility of cooking it on the barbecue I decided for plan B and to cook it with an old recipe I had from my mother … …. Fried! To top it all we even had to light the fireplace! Where is my spring!!!!?
Serves 2
300 grams of sliced lamb
1 egg
Juice of 1 / 2 lemon
1/2 tablespoon grated pecorino or parmingano cheese
Salt / pepper
Bread crumbs
Oil for frying
How it works:
Use meat mallet to make the slices thin. Beat egg, add lemon juice, pecorino cheese, salt and pepper. Place the slices of lamb in to the eggs mixture and then roll in breadcrumbs. Fry the meat until golden brown, remove from oil and use kitchen paper to dry off excess oil. Serve hot, sprinkled with lemon juice.
What are you planting out there in the sunshine? Your vegetable patch looks very large. It looks like a great day in the sun. But the weather is very changable at the moment, and today I am freezing. I might even have to put the heating on. London has snow forecast for the weekend. I hope you don’t get any in Italy.
I begin with several varieties of lettuce, green beans, onions, peas and eggplant. Frankly, what worries me are the eggplant, because maybe it’s a little early and if the weather continues to be so mad, I believe that during the night with the cold, my eggplant maybe not resist …….. but we’ll see. However, today another cold day, I lit both the fireplaces!!
per un attimo ho temuto che avevi in braccio l’agnello….
Quella è la mia gatta rosetta che rompe sempre le scatole!!!!!
